  • Deane E. Nutzman, 91, of Nehawka died Oct. 9, 2012 at the Louisville Assisted Living Facility in Louisville. He was born Aug. 9, 1921 at Omaha to Eugene and Emma (St. John) Nutzman. He married Mary Lou Garrison June 3, 1950 at Union.

  • Deane E. Nutzman, 91, of Nehawka died Oct. 9, 2012 at the Louisville Assisted Living Facility in Louisville. He was born Aug. 9, 1921 at Omaha to Eugene and Emma (St. John) Nutzman. He married Mary Lou Garrison June 3, 1950 at Union.
    He is survived by wife Mary Lou Nutzman of Nehawka; sons Dale Nutzman and wife Nancy of Plattsmouth and Mark Nutzman and wife Beth of Nehawka; daughter Kay Gerdes and husband Charles of Weeping Water; brother Ned Nutzman of Nebraska City; six grandchildren, Matthew Nutzman, Brandi Sutko, Kent Nutzman, Kate Nutzman, Heath Lindsey and Heather Weideman; seven great grandchildren, Graham Nutzman, Colton Nutzman, Amelia Sutko, Tristan Lindsey, Kael Lindsey, Haley Weideman and Emmy Weideman; numerous nieces and nephews, many other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded by sisters Mildred Nutzman and Janet Young and husband Kirk; and sister-in-law Marianna Nutzman.
    He lived in the Nehawka area his entire life. He was a farmer and member of Nehawka United Methodist Church, Nehawka American Legion, Nebraska City Elks Lodge and Western Star Lodge No. 2, A.F. & A.M.  
    Deane also formerly served on the Nehawka Methodist Church Board, Nehawka School Board and the Nehawka Farmers Coop Board.
    He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
    Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 13, at the Nehawka United Methodist Church with Rev. Sandy Webster officiating. Burial will be at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery - Nehawka.
    Memorials are suggested to Nehawka United Methodist Church or Nehawka Rescue Squad.
    Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Friday at the Marshall Funeral Chapel in Nebraska City with a Masonic service at 6 p.m.  The family will greet friends following the Masonic service until 8 p.m.
