Otoe County resumed government day on Oct. 10 after a six year absence.

Students heard presentations by county commissioners and elected officials.

Otoe County Government Day returned to the courthouse Wednesday after an absence of six years.

Marv Pesek, veteran service officer, welcomed 115 students at the district courtroom, where Judge Randall Rehmeier administered the oath of office.

Pesek credited the American Legion for sponsoring the program. He introduced Larry Kennedy, district 12 American Legion vice commander; and Melvin and Betty Snyder of Talmage. Melvin is a Korean war veteran and Betty is a former state president of the American Legion Auxiliiary.

Otoe County commissioners and elected officials addressed the group.

Lunch was served at the First United Methodist Church.

Government day was discontinued during courthouse renovations in 2006.
