Juanita Lucille Cox, 88, died at Good Samaritan Society in Syracuse Sept. 30, 2012. She was born to Leo and Edna (Meeker) Cox on Sept. 25, 1924 at Bismarck, Ill. She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Bismarck. She attended school in Bismarck.
She married Delmer E. Seeba at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Danville, Ill., on April 28, 1946. Juanita was a housewife and worked for 14 years as a nurse’s aide at the Johnson County Hospital in Tecumseh. In her spare time she enjoyed collecting and working in the antique business.
Juanita was a 15-year member of the Cook Legion Auxiliary #360 and longtime member of the Martha Circle of the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook. After retirement she and Delmer also enjoyed traveling with their children. In 2002 Delmer and Juanita sold their home in Cook and moved to Syracuse. Delmer preceded her in death on June 4, 2011.
She is survived by her children, Trudy Hanley and husband Gene of San Diego, Calif., David Seeba and wife Cindy of Bellevue and Vicki Hamm of Bellevue; daughter-in-law Phyllis Seeba of Anchorage, Alaska; seven grandchildren and sister Ruth Heffern of Danville, Ill.
Besides her husband, Juanita was preceded by son Delwin Seeba and brother Leroy Cox.
Funeral services will be held at the Grace Lutheran Church in Cook at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 5, with Rev. James Helgren officiating.
Visitation will be at the Wherry Mortuary in Tecumseh Thursday, Oct. 4, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., with family greeting friends from 6-8 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at the church.
Memorials may go to the Grace Lutheran Church, Cook. Private family inurnment will be in the Grace Lutheran Cemetery, rural Cook, at a later date.
