  • Bobcats get set for homecoming, plus other Bobcat updates

    Peru State’s golfers are shooting at the Doane Invite/ NAIA Fall Preview in Lincoln today and tomorrow.
    Below is a summary of recent sports news from Peru State College.
    The Peru State volleyball team picked up a win Bethel College during action at the La Quinta Inn/Kansas Wesleyan University Invite on Sept. 21 and 22. Peru State also played three other matches, losing close decisions in each. Peru State won two matches in a recent triangular with Central Christian College and Grace University. The three recent wins raised the Bobcats’ record to 5-17.
    The Peru State football team lost 49-7 on the road to the No. 6 rated Benedictine Ravens. The Ravens are unbeaten in four games, while the Bobcats are now 2-2 on the year and 1-2 in league play. Ryan Ludlow of Plattsmouth scored the Bobcats’ lone touchdown of the game on a short run in the third quarter. In terms of statistics, Bo Shepard led the offense with 87 yards rushing and 48 yards passing, having completed five of his ten pass attempts. Defensively, Maurice Berry of Long Beach, Calif., led the Bobcats with seven total tackles, six of which were solo.
    Courtney Musgrave of Omaha led the Peru State golfers with a 10th place individual finish at the recent Palace City Classic at Mitchell S.D. Peru State was also in action recently for the two-day Nebraska Wesleyan University Fall Invitational.  Jordan Schaardt of Humboldt finished as Peru State’s  top golfer with a two-day total of 169 which tied her for 15th.
    Sarah Williams of Hiawatha turned in a dominating performance and won the Dean White Invite hosted by Doane College on Sept. 22. Williams, while not completely healthy, easily outdistanced the second place runner by over 41 seconds as she won the 5K in a time of 18:55.48.
