By glancing back at last week’s win and looking forward to the next opponent, however, Nebraska City fans will feel a lot better.
Trevor Chaney’s game-winning touchdown run against Omaha Roncalli on Sept. 7 helped put the Pioneers in position to make history on Sept. 21.
The Pioneers will play at winless Elkhorn Mount Michael, and, while no one is putting that automatically in the win column, everyone must acknowledge that the game gives Nebraska City a chance do something it hasn’t in a long while—win three or more games.
Nebraska City won five games back in 2003. In the eight seasons that have followed, the team has won two or less games.
