High School football kicks off Friday with a full slate of action featuring home games for Lourdes, Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca, and Palmyra.
Teams with road games are Nebraska City and Nishnabotna and Sidney of Southwest Iowa.
The Lourdes Knights, 2-0, will host East Butler, 0-3, for a homecoming clash at Pioneer Field Friday night, while S-D-A, 1-1, will look for its second straight win against Arlington, 1-1, and Palmyra, 0-2, will try to break into the win column against Centennial, 1-1.
The S-D-A team, which won decisively last week at Wahoo Bishop Neumann, will still be without their starter at quarterback again this week. Rocket signal caller Tyler Farley has missed all of the season action so far, but hopes to be available for the team against Sandy Creek next week.
In road action, the Nebraska City team, 2-1, will try to upend Ralston, 3-0. The Rams beat Crete and Elkhorn Mount Michael in lopsided decisions in the first two weeks, then edged Blair 14-10 last week.
Sidney, 3-0, which dominated Lenox last week, will look to pick up another win in Iowa District 8 action when they travel to face 1-2 Corning.
Nishnabotna, 1-2, will also play in an Iowa District 8 match up as they travel to take on Lenox, 2-1. The Blue Devils are coming off a homecoming win against Villisca.
