Jorene F. “Jo” Schlueter, 73, of York died surrounded by her family, Sept. 10, 2012 at York. She was born Feb. 11, 1939 at Auburn to Carl and Hilda (Kuhlmann) Grable. She was a 1957 graduate of Bratton Union High School in rural southeast Nebraska.
Jo was a member of Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York. She married Stanley Schlueter on Nov. 24, 1990 in York. Jo worked various jobs in the York community including York Public Schools, Pioneer Seed Co. and Wright Jewelry. She enjoyed flower gardening, quilting with the Emmanuel Lutheran quilting group, and special times with her family.
She is survived by her husband, Stan of York; children Brenda (Scott ) Hinze of York, Beth (Frank) Sandall of York, Kim Miller and special friend Brian Johnson of York, Steven (Julie) Schlueter of Littleton, Colo., Julia (Tim) Euteneuer of Omaha, and Warren (Vicki) Schlueter of Lincoln; grandchildren Justin (Lindsay) Hinze of York, Brooke (Adam) Theis of Omaha, Riley Sandall of Lincoln, Sheldon Sandall of Lincoln, Hayden Sandall of York, Spencer Miller of York, Cody, Dillon, and Jesse Schlueter of Littleton, Kylee Meinzer of Omaha, Michelle (Brad) Sherman of Sidney, Neb., Nick (Rebecca) Schlueter of Lincoln, and Tim Schlueter and special friend Sarah Edwards of Lincoln; seven great-grandchildren: Jaxson Hinze of York, Trinity, Logan, and Zachery Sherman, all of Sidney, Eden Schlueter of Lincoln, and Victoria Gohl and André Tarter, both of Lincoln; sister Marcia Smith of Nebraska City; brother Merlan Grable of Wichita, Kan.; sisters-in-law Bernice Grable of Auburn and Yvonne Grable of Nebraska City; special friend Karen Snodgrass; and her beloved Yorkie, Miss Baylee.
She was preceded by brother Harlan Grable, brother-in-law Michael Smith, and sister-in-law Linda Grable.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m., Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012 at Emmanuel Lutheran Church in York with the Rev. Mike Neidow officiating. Interment will be in York’s Greenwood Cemetery.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Wednesday at Metz Mortuary in York with the family greeting friends from 7-8:30 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for later designation.
