  • The Lourdes volleyball team opened its season on Thursday night with a convincing three-set win over Sidney by scores of 25-15, 25-11, and 25-18.
Lourdes will return to action at 9 a.m. on Saturday for the Weeping Water Invite, a tournament the Knights have won the last three years.
“We’ve had a lot of success at Weeping Water and it just kind of starts off the year on the right foot,” Kreifels said.
The Knights will be hoping to continue their serving success from Thursday night’s home match.
“I thought they were exceptional at the service line,” Kreifels said. “That was our game plan. We have five serves in a row that are super strong servers.”
Pool play teams for Lourdes include Clarkson-Leigh and East Butler.?
Coach Kreifels said Clarkson-Leigh should be particularly tough.
The Knights have four starters back this year and a strong drive to get their fourth straight first place finish.
“They want it. They want it bad,” said Coach Kreifels. “I think it’s going to be a really good tournament.”
Lourdes will return to action on Thursday, Sept. 6, for a home match against Humboldt-TRS. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
