James P. Roddy, 67, of Nebraska City died Aug. 22, 2012 at Duff’s Friendship Villa in Nebraska City. He was born on Feb. 18, 1945 in Nebraska City to Frank and Charlotte (Moore) Roddy.
Jim attended grade school at Sciota Country School and graduated from Nehawka High School in 1963. He married Virginia “Ginger” Vest on June 28, 1964 at the Union Baptist Church in Union.
Jim worked at American Meter for 45 years until his retirement in 2008. He enjoyed restoring muscle cars, especially Chrysler. He also had a great love for his dogs, but most enjoyed spending time with his family.
He is survived by wife Ginger Roddy of Nebraska City; sons Kenneth Roddy and wife Sabrina of Tecumseh and Steve Roddy and friend Kim Meek of Boone, Iowa; granddaughters Olivia and Natalie; sister Connie Cook of Auburn sisters-in-law Carol Roddy of Nebraska City and Judy Beccard and husband Allen of Union; brothers-in-law Henry Vest and wife Kathy of Murray and Mike Vest of Omaha; aunt Marie McVay of Union; uncle LeRoy McCulloch and wife Lavonne of Plattsmouth; several family members and friends.
He was preceded by infant sister Joan, brother Edward and brother-in-law Larry Cook.
A memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 27, at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City with Terry Weible officiating. Inurnment will follow at the East Union Cemetery in Union
The family will greet friends 6-7 p.m., on Sunday, Aug. 26, at the mortuary. There will be no viewing.
Memorials may be given to Hearts United for Animals in Auburn and the Nebraska City Rescue Squad.
