  • Pauline Bridgford, 88, of Hamburg died Aug. 18, 2012 at the Ambassador in Sidney. She was born Ethel Pauline Case on Feb. 16, 1924 in Nemaha County to Alfred W. and Eliza Josephine (Mackey) Case.

  • Pauline Bridgford, 88, of Hamburg died Aug. 18, 2012 at the Ambassador in Sidney. She was born Ethel Pauline Case on Feb. 16, 1924 in Nemaha County to Alfred W. and Eliza Josephine (Mackey) Case.  
     
    At a young age, Pauline moved with her family to the Watson, Mo., area where she attended school.  She moved to Hamburg in the 1940’s.
     
    She married Harold Purtle, Sr. in 1940.  She later married Carroll Bridgford in 1960.
     
    Pauline worked for many years in the office at the former Interstate Nursery in Hamburg.  She later worked at the Glenwood State School until her retirement in 1986.  She was a long-time and devoted member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Nebraska City.   She was a devoted mother and was someone who was always proud of her family.
    She is survived by her children:  Barbara Guhde and husband Rich of Hamburg; Harold “Pete” Purtle and wife Vicky of Hamburg, and Michael Bridgford and wife Shelly of Omaha; step-son Alan Bridgford of Washington; 15 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; and other family and many friends.
     
    She was preceded in death by her daughter Donna Fletcher in 2004; daughter Glenda Comstock in 2005; brothers Alva, Herbert and Donald; infant brothers Leroy, Durard and Clifford; and her husbands.
     
    Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Aug. 22, at 2 p.m. at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home in Hamburg.  Phil Emshoff will officiate. Burial will follow in the Riverton Cemetery.
    The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Rash-Gude Funeral Home.
     
    Memorials may be given to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses Expansion Project in Nebraska City.
