  • The Otoe County Sheriff’s Office reports that a 14-year-old cross country runner helped lead authorities to suspects in thefts from parks cars in Palmyra on Aug. 9.
    Deputies were alerted just before 3 a.m. when a caller said a man was rummaging through her neighbor’s vehicle. The caller told deputies that man had run away on foot.
    Chief Deputy Mike Holland said a cross country athlete followed the man running man and observed him get into a vehicle. Holland said the teen’s father also participated in tracking down the man who ran from the scene.
    Deputies arrived and arrested Travis Danczak, 26, of Lincoln for suspicion of theft.
    Tawnya Dunlap, 20, of Palmyra was arrested for suspicion of an accessory to theft.
    Holland said there are four known victims at four different addresses, but asked anyone else who has things missing from their cars parked in Palmyra to notify the sheriff’s office.
