  • Ruth A. Burr, 81, of Dunbar died Aug. 7, 2012 at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City. She was born on March 5, 1931 in Nebraska City to John and Coletta (Kreifels) Heng, Jr.  She graduated from Nebraska City High School.  She married Robert A. Burr on  Aug. 6, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church near Paul.

  • Ruth A. Burr, 81, of Dunbar died Aug. 7, 2012 at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City. She was born on March 5, 1931 in Nebraska City to John and Coletta (Kreifels) Heng, Jr.  She graduated from Nebraska City High School.  She married Robert A. Burr on  Aug. 6, 1952 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church near Paul. 
     
    Ruth and Bob shared their 60th wedding anniversary the day before her death.
    Ruth was a loving housewife and homemaker.  She also had worked at the Nebraska City News Press for a short time.  She was a member of St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse and also the Altar Society.
     
    She is survived by husband Robert A. Burr of Dunbar; children Robert A. Burr and wife Connie of Dunbar, Dianne Kreifels and husband David, Jr. of Nebraska City, Lanny Burr and wife Mary of Syracuse, and Sharon Kerr of Gretna; 14 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; siblings   Edward Heng and wife Cindy of Tekamah, Dwight Heng and wife Carol of York, Leta Harshman and husband Deroy of Nebraska City, Eileen LeGrande and husband Harold of Lincoln  and Dorothy Funke and husband Tom of Nebraska City; sister-in-law Ilene Burr of Syracuse; brothers-in-law Allen Burr and Calvin Burr, both of Syracuse, and Les Stecker of Grand Island; numerous nieces, nephews other family and many friends.
     
    She was preceded by her father John in 1967, her mother Coletta in 1974; brother Allan Heng and sister-in-law Lola Stecker.
     
    Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 11 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse. Fr. Michael Stec will celebrate the Mass and burial will follow in Park Hill Cemetery at Syracuse.  Pallbearers will be her grandchildren Jason, Chris, Eric and Nate Burr, Daniel Yost and Tyler Kerr.
     
    A rosary will be recited Friday evening at 7 p.m. at St. Paulinus Catholic Church in Syracuse preceded by an Altar Society Rosary at 6:30 p.m.  Following the rosary at 7 p.m., the family will receive friends.
    Visitation is on Friday from 2:30-4:30 p.m. at Gude Mortuary in Nebraska City and after 5 p.m. on Friday at St. Paulinus Catholic Church.  The casket will also be open from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
     
    Memorials may be given to the Dunbar Fire/Rescue or St. Paulinus Catholic Church Building Fund.
