  •    Firefighters from Percival, Nebraska City, Sidney and Hamburg participated in a rescue Tuesday night after trucks collided near an Interstate 29 exit ramp and trapped a girl in the wreckage.
The Fremont County Sheriff's Office report that a Dodge pickup pulling a U-Haul trailer struck a truck and semi-trailer driven by Lonnie Lee Dickey, 49, as the truck pulled onto Interstate 29 near the Sapp Brothers Truck Stop.
The pickup, driven by David Michael Carroll, 33, careened off of the roadway and traveled several hundred feet into an adjacent cornfield.
Firefighters extricated the girl from the vehicle, but because it took over an hour, a medical helicopter was called to land at the scene.
Neither Dickey or Carroll were injured in the accident, which occurred around 1:05 a.m. on Aug. 1.
A dog was also in Carroll's vehicle and fled into a cornfield after the accident.
It is described as a nine-year-lld chocolate lab/pit bull mix, answering to the name of Coco.
Lifenet transported the girl to University of Nebraska Medical Center.
