Nebraska City avenged a previous tourney loss and punched its ticket for the Class B Area Two final during American?Legion Juniors baseball action on Tuesday at Plattsmouth.
The tournament opened on Friday with Nebraska City beating Lincoln?Christian, but a Saturday loss to Waverly had the Nebraska City team one loss from elimination.
In response, Nebraska City rallied past Springfield (Platteview) on Sunday, topped Lincoln?Christian for the second time on Monday, then took a 10-0 win over Waverly on Tuesday.
Gretna, the only unbeaten team in the Area tourney, topped Waverly 11-2 on Monday night and needs only to win one of two games Wednesday night in order to reach the state tourney, which is being played in Chadron this summer.
Action begins at 5 p.m.
A Nebraska City win would force a second, winner-take-all championship game.
Coach Kyle Ferguson said Nebraska City pitchers available for tomorrow’s games included Chris Monoghan, Kestyn Lee, Brett Kochanowicz, and Nathan Zaroban.
