  • The Germanfest 5K run in Syracuse was like a stroll in the park for runners and toddlers alike.
Amy Strebe, a conservation technician at Indian Cave State Park, pushed a stroller holding her four-year-old daughter Alyssa.
At portions of the run at Williams Park and toward the finish, her daughter ran alongside.
Jamie Higgins of Syracuse pushed a dual-seat stroller carrying her son and daughter.
The marketing and graphic designer said she had run in the annual run before, but it was her first time pushing the kids.
    “They loved it,” she said.
Grant Aden, a 2009 Syracuse High School graduate, was the top finisher with a time of 18:18.
The Morningside College student said the park was nice, but a breeze would have welcomed.
“It was bit muggy,” he said.
Katy Biehl, a hair stylist who usually runs in the Lincoln half marathon, was the first female finisher with a time of 22:50.
She said the route was great.
“I had a lot left. It was a very nice local 5K,” she said.
Top male finishers were Aden, Kody Rich and Eddie Paden.
Top female finishers were Biehl, Kesha Beethe and Mattie Wilkinson.
The top youth time in the two-mile was 7:02.
