  • The Nishnabotna and Sidney baseball teams will put win streaks on the line in the hopes of maintaining momentum for postseason on Tuesday night at Sidney.
After opening up the season with a loss to East Mills, the Sidney team has reeled off 12 straight victories, including a win over the Blue Devils early in the season.
Early season losses to conference foes will keep Nishnabotna from challenging Sidney for the conference title, but the Blue Devils have recovered nicely with 12 straight wins of their own. The Blue Devils have scored double digit runs in seven games dating back to June 19.
Although the conference race is decided, Tuesday’s game still has importance.
The Blue Devils will be looking to show the Cowboys just how much they have improved since the early season meeting of the two teams and mark itself as a Regional Tourney contender.
Sidney and Nishnabotna figure to be heading toward a Regional semifinal clash in Essex on July 12.
Tuesday’s action in Sidney begins at 6 p.m. with the junior varsity game.
