  • Raymond E. “Boots” Yost, 85, of Nebraska City, died June 28, 2012 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City. He was born on April 28, 1927 in Syracuse, to Rudolph Joseph and Jenelle (Bassinger) Yost. He married June Newton on May 5, 1951 in Sidney, Iowa.

  • Raymond E. “Boots” Yost, 85, of Nebraska City, died June 28, 2012 at the Ambassador in Nebraska City. He was born on April 28, 1927 in Syracuse, to Rudolph Joseph and Jenelle (Bassinger) Yost. He married June Newton on May 5, 1951 in Sidney, Iowa.
    He served honorably in the Army from Oct. 24, 1951 to Oct. 10, 1953.   During his time in service, he was stationed in Alaska serving as an M.P.
    Boots was a supervisor for Bob Knisley’s Midwest Construction Company for 30 years.  He later served as Nebraska City street supervisor for several years until his retirement in 1990.   He was a life-member of both the American Legion and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #968 in Nebraska City.
    He is survived by his wife of 61 years, June Yost of Nebraska City; children Kristina Schildberg and husband Greg of Casey, Iowa, Randy Yost and significant other Tammy of Anchorage, Alaska, Joni Davis and husband Craig, Mary Wurtele and husband Curt, Jeff Yost and wife Shelley and Todd Yost and wife Jill, all of Nebraska City; 18 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; other family and many friends.
    Funeral services will be Tuesday, July 3, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Fr. Michael McCabe celebrating the Mass.   Burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Nebraska City with military services conducted by the Nebraska National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.
    The family will greet friends Monday evening from 7-8 p.m. at the Gude Mortuary.
    Memorials may be given to Lourdes Building and Renovation Fund or St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
