Dwight Albert Lockwood, 89, of Lincoln, formerly of Nebraska City, died at Bryan LGH East in Lincoln on June 12, 2012. He was born July 23, 1922 in Golden Valley, N.D., to Jay A. and Gertrude L. (Peabody) Lockwood. He married Nelda Bader Aug. 1, 1957 at Golden Valley.
He is survived by sons Timothy Lockwood and wife Amy, Paul Lockwood and James Lockwood, all of Lincoln; step-grandchildren Emery and Edward; brother-in-law Rev. Theodore Bader and wife Vernetta of Parkston, S.D.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded by his wife, brother-in-law Alvin Bader, and sister-in-law Leona Bader Knaus and her husband, Albert.
He lived in several communities in North Dakota, Falls City and Talmage. He moved to Nebraska City Sept. 28, 1989.
He was a school teacher and school administrator. He was a member of Bethel United Church of Christ and A.A.R.P. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II.
Funeral services are at 11 a.m. Friday, June 15, at Bethel United Church of Christ in Nebraska City with Rev. Rodger Good officiating. Burial will be at St. John’s (McWilliams) Cemetery near Talmage.
Visitation is 1-9 p.m. Thursday at Marshall Funeral Chapel with the family greeting friends from 7-8 p.m.
