  • Shane A. Stephenson, 39, of Nebraska City, died May 26, 2012 at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City. He was born on Sept. 2, 1972 in Hiawatha, Kan., to Larry P. and Sandra K. (Dill) Stephenson.  After his schooling, he joined the Army and served from 1992 to 1995 as an Army Ranger.

  • Shane A. Stephenson, 39, of Nebraska City, died May 26, 2012 at St. Mary’s Com-munity Hospital in Neb-raska City. He was born on Sept. 2, 1972 in Hiawatha, Kan., to Larry P. and Sandra K. (Dill) Stephenson.  After his schooling, he joined the Army and served from 1992 to 1995 as an Army Ranger.


     


    He Jodi L. Rinne on March 22, 1993 in the State of Washington.  He later married Debra Aksamit on April 4, 1998 in Nebraska City and she survives him.


     


    Shane had worked for the Union Pacific Railroad since 1995 after his discharge from the Army.  He was a machine operator for the railroad and was a fourth generation railroader in his family.


     


    Besides his wife, he is survived by children Shaley Stephenson and Nicolas Stephenson; father Larry Stephenson and wife Charlie of Nebraska City; mother Sandra Dill of Hartford, Kan.; step-children Bryan, Brad, Beau, Brittney and Blake; nine step-grandchildren; siblings Kaylee Jackson and husband Mike of Coffeyville, Kan., Jamie Stephenson of Pawnee City, Kris Whited of Nebraska City and Russ Caster of Falls City; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews and many friends.


    He was preceded by grandparents Homer and Evelyn Stephenson, Thomas and Louise Dill, Bill and Mildred Stoddard; siblings Christopher and Amy Gottula; and brother-in-law Kevin Aksamit.


     


    Funeral services are Friday, June 1, at 2 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Nebraska City with Dorothea Fairbanks officiating; burial will follow in Wyuka Cemetery at Nebraska City with complete military services conducted by the Army National Guard Funeral Honors Detail.


     


    The family will greet friends from 6-8 p.m. on  Thursday, May 31, at the First United Methodist Church.
