  • As action teed off at the Class B-1 District golf tourney at the Beatrice Country Club, much uncertainty existed about which team would emerge to claim the third position in the team standings and the state qualifying position that goes with that designation.
Many thought Beatrice would be the favorite to win the tourney and the Orangemen came through on their home course with a 330. Norris was supposed to finish second and the Titans came through with a 344.
A pack of teams was thought to be vying for the third position.
S-D-A rose out of that pack, nearly chased down the Titans for the No. 2 position in the district standings and finished third, thus claiming their second consecutive trip to the state tournament.
Harrison Agena led the Rockets by tying for first place with a 75. Agena ended up second after a scorecard playoff.
Blayne Roberts finished 10th in the individual standings.
Other Rockets in order of finish were Tyler Berner, Micah Buller and Brandon Loecker.
The S-D-A team will play at the state tournament Monday and Tuesday at Meadowlark Hills Golf Course in Kearney.
For more information about the district tourney, see the Thursday edition of the Syracuse Journal-Democrat.
