  • A number of school records fell and the Rocket girls’ and boys’ track team picked up second and third place honors in the overall team results during the Scott Nisely?Invite on the Syracuse-Dunbar-Avoca track on Friday.
    Haley Harsin ran to new meet records for both the 400 and 800 meter runs and Lauren Sand picked up a school mark for the pole vault to lead the Rockets in a second place finish.
    Emily Harsin won the 100 meter hurdles and the S-D-A girls’ team also won the 1600 and 3200 meter relays.
    Jon Burr posted a gold medal finish in the shot put, Coleman Orchard won the 1600 meter run and the Rocket boys’ team posted a win in the 3200 meter relay to highlight a third place effort.
    Crete took the team title for both the girls’ and boys’ divisions of the meet and also took home the trophy as the team to score the most combined points of girls’ and boys’ squads.
    Nebraska City scored seven points on the girls’ side and picked up 19.5 points on the boys’ side to take eighth in both divisions.
