  • Nebraska Gov. Dave Heineman today signed LB 968 which appropriates $7.5 million toward a renovation of Peru State College’s Oak Bowl.

President Dan Hanson said, “Peru State is another step closer to realizing an important vision for our future. I want to thank Senator Lavon Heidemann for his support of our vision, his dedication to southeast Nebraska and his leadership throughout the legislative process. I also want to thank Governor Dave Heineman for seeing this need and agreeing to invest in Peru State and southeast Nebraska.”

Total costs for the Oak Bowl renovation, including a Fieldhouse, are estimated at $14 million. To complete the project in its entirety, the college will immediately begin work to generate private gifts and donations.

Hanson said, “We are up to the challenge and excited about this tremendous opportunity.
The state’s willingness to invest in our future is largely due to the college’s progress and forward momentum over the past several years. This is an exciting time for Peru State and we look forward to making a facility enhancement that is a critical part of our comprehensive campus improvement plan.”
