Florence M. (Erhart) Ricketts, 95, of Omaha and formerly Nebraska City, died Feb. 9, 2012 at the Brookestone Village in Omaha. She was born on Oct. 20, 1916 in Wabash to Clarence Bernard and Mary Gezina (Boom) Erhart. 


Florence M. (Erhart) Ricketts, 95, of Omaha and formerly Nebraska City, died Feb. 9, 2012 at the Brookestone Village in Omaha. She was born on Oct. 20, 1916 in Wabash to Clarence Bernard and Mary Gezina (Boom) Erhart.  She graduated from Omaha Cathedral High School.

 

She married Donavon Platte Ricketts on Jan. 29, 1940 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City.

 

Florence was a loving wife and mother.  She worked at the former Hested’s Department Store in Nebraska City and later at St. Mary’s Community Hospital in Nebraska City for many years.  She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Christian Mothers.  She enjoyed cooking, reading, gardening and playing Bridge.  She belonged to the Bridge Club in Nebraska City for many years.
She is survived by her children:  Joe Ricketts and wife Marlene of  Omaha, Dick Ricketts and wife Linda of Tucson, Ariz., Jim Ricketts and wife Kathy of Omaha, and Mary Sue Nocita and husband Joe of Omaha; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; brother-in-law Eddie Galas of Omaha; sister-in-law Kay Erhart of Omaha; numerous nieces, nephews, and other family and friends.

 

She was preceded by husband Don on Dec. 16, 1970; son Bob on May 7, 1984; brothers Vincent, Bernard and Dick; and sisters Veronica, Mary and Catherine.

 

A funeral Mass was held Feb. 13 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Nebraska City with Father Michael McCabe officiating. Burial was at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Nebraska City. 

 

Pallbearers were Peter, Tom, Todd, Don, Patrick and Quinn Ricketts.

 

Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church or Lourdes Central Catholic Schools in Nebraska City.
