Florence J. Miller, 85, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln.


Florence J. Miller, 85, of Lincoln, died Wednesday, March 23, 2011 at St. Elizabeth Regional Medical Center in Lincoln. She was born Florence Josephine Kreifels on July 4, 1925 at the family farm in rural Nebraska City to Vincent John and Marie V. (Christen) Kreifels.  

She graduated from Nebraska City High School in 1942 and attended Peru State College.
She married Howard H. Miller on June 17, 1947 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at rural Nebraska City.
Florence taught school for several years at the Maple Grove Country School and at the Dunbar school.  She also taught music lessons.  The family moved to Lincoln from Dunbar in 1968, and Florence worked at K-Mart for several years.

She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the Altar Society in Denton.

She is survived by her children James Miller of Lincoln, Donna Miller of York, and John Miller of Lincoln; siblings David Kreifels, Anna Marie White and husband Paul, Esther Wyant and Bernard Kreifels, all of rural Nebraska City.

She was preceded by husband Howard in April of 1986.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, March 26, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church at Rural Nebraska City with Monsignor Mark Huber and Fr. Thomas Bush officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Pallbearers are Jim Bebout, Gabe Kent, Will Bebout, Steve Kreifels, Keith Moyer and Dave Kreifels.


A rosary will be recited at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church prior to the funeral mass.
Memorials may be given to St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Denton.
